Update: I frogged it, and will later try it on a size or two down.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the pattern has an error in it. It says to knit some of the rows when you should purl, because you need to form the stockinette stitch. I don't have the book with me right now, but the error is like row 3 or 4 or something. I hope that helps!

Has anyone done the "Invisibility Shawl" yet?

Here's the deal-io. I'm using lace-weight in darker colors, because I like the idea of the shawl having the dark colorwork like in the movies.

I'm knitting on size 7 needles, as requested in the book. However, um, it looks too loose! I should just call it the "visibility shawl."

I've been stretching it this way, and that way, pretending to block it, but I really think the needles are too big to hold the integrity of the stockinette patches surrounding the Yo's.

What do YOU think?

Can blocking really salvage something this loose? Or should I just frog it and start on smaller needles?

Sorry to do two posts in a row. Just had to say how much I loved the new Harry Potter film. I wore my Griffindor scarf and was pleased when a few people complimented me on it. I'm planning on wrapping myself up in it for reading the new book on saturday!

I just finished a Ravenclaw beret in the child's size and I've done the back of my weasley sweater. I'm knitting it in red Debbie Bliss Donegal tweed Aran. Since the photo was taken I've done about 10 inches of the front and am about to begin the 'H' its my first intarsia project so I'm a bit nervous.

I've just been accepted to join this KAL. I'm really excited about the new film coming out and of course especially book 7!! I've been indulging in a little bit of Harry Potter knitting and so far I have done a Griffindor years 1 & 2 scarf designed by the blogger at atypically knit and the dark mark scarf designed by the blogger at Storm Moon Knits.

Its good to get the chance to share my harry potter knitting with other knitters. I'm hoping to attempt the clock blanket from Charmed Knits at some point, and I've just started a Weasley sweater.

It's always the math, I tell you. Maybe if I just took a couple more seconds to realize that I casted on 12 stitches too many, it wouldn't look like it could fit frickin' godzilla. I don't know what i'm going to do yet. maybe ill keep working on it later on, with more decreases than planned along the waist. The next row was a yellow stripe. It's just calling for it though, no matter how XXL it is....

House Vests

Hello! This is my first post here thus far. I've recently finished my first Harry Potter knitting project, which is also my first project larger than a hat or mittens. Here is a picture:

I based this off of Knit.1's Pi Vest pattern, but altered the ribbing. This one is [book] Ravenclaw and is supposed to match the more recent vests seen in the OotP screenshots.

And this is the beginning of a similar vest for my mother. She wanted hers to be in this lighter gray, so I suppose it could be considered a bit more like a PS/CoS style.

I plunged into the last couple of bare fingering weight skeins I *just* got in the mail this weekend... and dyed one of them gryffindor colors!! I can't wait to knit them up while watching the movies. Yeah, and the tanktop too! I'll be set! Sorry for no action pics yet. I still have to finish up something first. Bah humbug!

Ok, so I have to work on two deadlines before I can officially work on my HP tanktop before the movie & 7th book. I just bought some gryffindor colors in Microspun. The main color will be red, with a few yellow stripes, mostly like the 3rd-4th movie scarves. I'll be writing up the pattern while I work on it, because that's just what I do. *sigh* So, this project will move as quickly as it possibly can in... um,....2 weeks.
Are you all getting pretty itchy for the upcoming HP stuff?? I know I am. I'm still trying to read HP5 again. Then HP6. AND THEN i'm ready for HP7! lol.

Gryffindorilicious Raglan Finished

This is the first ever adult sized sweater that I have ever made. It's the top down raglan and it will be on it's way to it's new home in just a few days. I picked up 8 stitches for the armpit instead of 4 or 6. If I were to make any changes it would be to have picked up the 8th stitch in the correct spot on the first sleeve (it's ok it just bugs me that I could have made it perfect), I would have made the body longer and I would have done the bottom ribbing on size 5's like the sleeves.

Specs:
Yarn: Wool Ease (Between the beret and the sweater I only used 3 balls of the red and just a small amount of the gold)
Needles: Addi Turbo 16" circs size 5 & 8, Addi Turbo 32" circs size 8
Size: Medium/Large

I finished the Gryffindor beret that I was making. The pattern is from Charmed Knits and is offered free by the publishers. If you make one please consider also making one for Warm Woolies, but read their policy because you must use wool. You can only use acrylic for blankets.

Specs:
Yarn: Wool Ease
Needles: Addi Turbo 16" circs size 5&7, Crystal Palace Bamboo DPN's size 7
Size: Large
Mods: Used a size 5 for the ribbing because I didn't have a 6 and did 2x2 instead of 1x1 ribbing

As you can see, frogging competely was inevitable.
However, I looooved the bottom pattern, even though it would roll.
It was going to be a striped Gryffindor tank. I'll restart it again soon. It's a good thing I tried it on when I did.
